Bise Sf "Nordostwind" per. Wortschatz schwz. (11. Jh.), mhd. bīse, ahd. bīsa, as. biosa Nicht etymologisierbar. Führen zurück auf vd. * bisō f. "Nordostwind, Wirbelwind" (für den Vokal ist Länge und Kürze bezeugt, Länge etwa in fnhd. Beiswind, die Lemmaform entspricht der heute in der Schweiz üblichen). Herkunft unklar. Ein Zusammenhang mit ahd. bisōn, mhd. bisen "zügellos sein, umherrennen (wie von Bremsen geplagtes Vieh)" ist denkbar, aber nicht ausreichend wahrscheinlich zu machen. Zu Brise mit Ausfall des r ? Oder lautmalend (für "pfeifen") ?
